The Harry S Truman Coordinating Council is proud to participate in Gov. Nixon's MoBroadbandNow initiative to expand broadband Internet access in rural and underserved parts of the state for health care, business, education and consumers. MoBrandbandNow seeks to expand broadband accessibility to 95 percent of the total population of Missouri within five years. On March 31, 2011, HSTCC partnered with local stakeholders to conduct the MoBroadbandNow Regional Technology Planning Team (RTPT) kick-off meeting. One of 19 RTPTs throughout the state, this team will advance the demand and adoption of broadband availability within the region. On August 23, 2011, the second Regional Technology Planning Team (RTPT) Meeting was held at the Joplin Public Library. (To view the full minutes from the meeting, please click here.) Tim Haithcoat showed a Powerpoint presentation of the Summary of Data Collection/Mapping in the HST Region. Residential surveys went out from a USPS (United States Postal Service) list randomized for 4000 participants. 401 returns showed 89% had computers and of those 92% had Internet. 63% of those had internet for over 10 years.
